Aqib Talib (born February 13, 1986 in Cleveland, OH) is a cornerback for the NFL’s Denver Broncos. Aqib attended the University of Kansas where he played on the Jayhawks football team from 2005-2007. He was named MVP in the 2008 Orange Bowl against Virginia Tech and shortly thereafter announced he’d be skipping his senior year to enter the NFL draft. He was selected in the first round by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He quickly became a league leader in interceptions. He was traded to the New England Patriots in 2012 and later signed a signed a six-year, $57 million contract with the Broncos in 2014. Known for intense on the field fouls, he has received suspensions from play for incidents including poking another player’s eye out. He received personal two fouls during Super Bowl 50 against the Carolina Panthers, but his team went on to win the NFL title.

Aqib is the youngest of four children. Aqib’s mother Donna Henry converted to Islam when he was young, and his first name means “The last one” in Arabic while his last name means “The student.” He is married to Gypsy Benitez and the couple have three young children. He has had several run-ins with the law. In 2009 he was arrested for assaulting a taxi driver in Florida, while in 2011 he was arrested in Texas for firing a gun at his sister’s boyfriend, but the charges were later dropped.
